I am a retired English teacher and I like reading your magazine, which provides me with a panorama of today’s China. As a Chinese, I feel so proud of the fast development in our country.Twenty years ago, I went to the U.K. as a visiting scholar studying at the University of Cambridge. Now I am living at Tianjin Medical University together with my son, who taught there after he got his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Southampton. Personally, I prefer to read English poetry and I hope to read beautiful poems, lyrics, and sonnets in your magazine.

I have been living in Orlando, Florida since 1974. Born in Germany one month after the beginning of World War Ⅱ, I grew up in turbulence and real poverty in the following 10 to 15 years. In the 1960s and 1970s, my family started to do business with China, selling industrial air conditioning and heating components. Therefore,we had close contact with Chinese people and we then witnessed the reform and opening-up of this country. Its economic success is a miracle and today, China plays a leading role in keeping Peace and stability in the world. Xi Jinping, the leader of the CPC, is on the right track to bring prosperity to China.

I was in London in 2015, but am now working in Beijing. In the U.K. every family has its own garden to plant vegetables or grow flowers. The special report on Jiangxi Spearheading Green Development in the February issue of China Today is my favorite and the picture of creative shapes of landscaping in Fuzhou City caught my eyes. Living in capital city Beijing, everyone is talking about fighting for the blue sky and we all know that environmental protection and eco-friendly economic growth models and ways of life are crucial for Chinese people and play a vital part in ensuring global ecological security. I am very interested in the article entitled “Green Architecture and Lifestyle in a Demonstrative Community” written by your staff reporter Verena Menzel who perfectly introduced the Nanchang Alpha International Community, a residence designed to pursue an environmentallyfriendly and low-carbon lifestyle and building style. My company focuses on building ecological gardens and architectures for which we think there must be a huge market in China in the next decades. I would like to read more reports on Chinese people’s ideas and their demands for keeping a green life style.
