A MoU signed between CCPIT and Certification and Accreditation Administration of China

A Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) was signed between the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT)and the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China(CNCA).

According to the MoU, the two sides will set up a routine information exchange mechanism, conduct policy research, engage in human resources cooperation and provide services for enterprises. What is more, the two sides will offer consultation services with regards to certification and accreditation policies and regulations, technical training sessions and high-level certification service for domestic and foreign enterprises in a bid to improve the exhibition services and sustainable management by means of certification and accreditation and promote the transformation of the exhibition industry. Meanwhile, enterprises are encouraged to obtain CNCA certificates. With the new mechanism, both sides can give full play to international multilateral recognition to speed up the customs clearance for import and export trade, and facilitate trade and investment cooperation with the Belt and Road countries for Chinese enterprises so as to raise their competitiveness.

Chairman Jiang Zengwei noted, the CCPIT is currently deepening the reform and in cooperation with the CNCA, which is conducive to complement their advantages and share resources, to better serve China’s outbound trade. The CCPIT will give full play to channels and platforms, and cooperate with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China and CNCA to enhance the quality, and eventually vigorously promote “Made in China”, Chinese standard and Chinese services to develop globally.

Section 301 report seriously lacking in facts, evidence

The Roadmap provides business community and policy-makers with comprehensive and concise overview of major global intellectual property policy issues.

As explained by Chen, the dozens of comments submitted to the US government by the public do not provide enough substantial evidence to support allegations like“mandatory technology transfer”. On the contrary, most of the comments indicate the protection of intellectual property rights in China has improved significantly.

Vice Chairman of the CCPIT Chen Zhou says what the US cited as justification for its tariffs — the Section 301 report — is seriously lacking in facts and evidence. The CCOIC participated in the Section 301 investigation,and submitted nearly 1,000 pages of written comments to disprove the allegations.

The International Chamber of Commerce(ICC) recently released the Chinese edition of its flagship publication, the ICC Intellectual Property Roadmap 2017.

The CCOIC believes that interdependence is the basic characteristic of Sino-US relations, and mutual benefit is the essence of Sino-US economic and trade relations.Chen said, “dialogue and consultation can completely resolve the relevant differences between the two countries.”

Chinese Edition of ICC Intellectual Property Roadmap 2017 released

The protectionist measures imposed by the US government, which may trigger a“trade war”, will cause incalculable losses to business communities, consumers, and laborers of both China and the US, leading to a lose-lose situation that will affect other countries as well, said Chen.

The China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), on behalf of the Chinese business community, has expressed its firm opposition to the protectionist measures the US government intends to take.

Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 creates a fast track authority for the US president to negotiate trade agreements. It enables the US to take a unilateral action outside the World Trade Organization process.

The 2017 edition is the 13th of its kind since the roadmap was first published.

The Chinese edition, translated by the Patent and Trademark Law Office of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade was already released on the official ICC website.

The Roadmap 2017, compiled by nearly 80 intellectual property experts from across the world, saw new developments that have exerted influence on the intellectual property community. Therefore, the Roadmap 2017 has been updated based on the previous edition.The sections on valuation and monetization of IP assets, patents and standards, designs,trademark restrictions on packaging, domain names, plant varieties, information products,sustainable development, climate change, innovation and competition have been largely rewritten.

Published every two to three years,the IP Roadmap has been translated into Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and other languages.
