Highlights of the Two Sessions:A New Round of Reform and Opening-up Is Underway

W hen spring comes and flowers blossom every year, the two sessions, namely NPC and CPPCC, will be held. On the afternoon of March 3, 2018, the two sessions for 2018 were opened.

2018 is not only the first year of comprehensive implementation of the guiding principles from the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening up policy, but also a critical year to build a well-off society and carry out the 13th Five-Year Plan. In one word, 2018 marks a new starting point of China’s development.

Therefore, it is no doubt that the national “two sessions” in 2018 have become a global hotspot.

The historically remarkable achievements and tremendous changes in last several five-year periods prove that implementing reform and the opening-up policy was crucial to contemporary China and the“Two Centenary” goals.

Reading reports from the two sessions of 2018, we can find numerous major policies as well as key words such as “Belt and Road”, “a country of innovators”, “high-quality development”, “manufacturer of quality”, “develop an open economy of higher standards”, “develop new models and new forms of trade”,and so on. A new round of reform and opening-up is under way.
